What’s On Your Wish List?

Encourager-In-Chief: October 20th, 2021

Get your biggest projects completed in record time!

Do you have big projects that have just been sitting in the corner collecting dust? If so, here are some tips for you that will help breathe new life into those projects so that they don’t wind up being regrets you wish you would have done. Let’s start with a wish list.

The first thing you want to do is create your wish list. A wish list is different from a goal list. Goals are usually items that can be completed in one day. However, items on your wish list are bigger. They may take weeks, months, or even years to finish. Of course, that doesn’t mean we can’t start on them right away. All

When starting your wish list, don’t worry about how many items go on it or how big they are, but leave off the little items that you are going to get to anyway. Next, select the order in which you want to get these items completed. You may want to pick one of the smaller ones just so you can gain some momentum.

Next, create a timeslot specifically dedicated to working on this wish list item. You may not be able to get it all done in one day but don’t do anything else in this timeslot other than work on this wish list item. You want to move it along until it’s eventually completed. If it’s a really big project, you may need to schedule several timeslots dedicated for this one task. For example, I enjoy painting statutes but I cannot paint an entire statue in one day because I have to allow different parts of the statute to dry. It only makes sense to schedule multiple painting sessions.

Next, give your project some finality by setting a deadline for its completion. It’s amazing how much gets done when the amount of time you have to work on it is limited. You’ll find yourself picking up the pace and that will allow you to complete your wish list task. Finally, repeat this process and get working on your next wish list item. If you practice this method on an ongoing basis, you’ll be amazed at how many of your biggest wish list items will have become a reality.
