How To Make Deliveries Easier

Develop ease of delivery.

In my previous posts, I’ve talked about ease of use and ease of execution. These are to make it easier for customers to buy from you and easier for you to serve your customers. But now, let’s talk about ease of delivery. There are several different things you can do to improve your delivery service.

Depending upon what you sell, customers may either have to pick up an item at your location or have you ship it to them.

If you have a delivery route, it’s a good idea to have a geographical map as to your customers’ actual locations. This will make it easier for you to get your products into their hands.

Years ago, I worked for the owner of a Chicken Delight franchise in Westbury, New York. He knew nothing about the business when he started, but one piece of advice management gave him before he opened his business was to become a cab driver. The reason was so he could learn the locations of all the streets in his geographical territory.

His time investment paid off and he became one of the most successful franchise owners I’ve ever seen. Being a cab driver helped him to group his deliveries to get food to his customers faster and to make the best use of his delivery drivers (one of whom was me).

My products include DVDs, books, and CDs. Whenever possible, I’ve made electronic, downloadable versions of these products available to my customers. In addition to being able to order 24 hours a day, customers can receive them instantly without me having to do anything.

If you have a similar product that can be delivered in electronic format, I encourage you to set up your website with the same function.
